Last weekend, the Sporting KC U13s competed in the U14 age group of the Midwest Mother's Day Classic at the Overland Park Soccer Complex. The boys more than held their own in a higher age bracket finishing with four wins and zero losses. They scored 15 goals while allowing zero en route to winning the tournament.
The highlight of the weekend was in the game against Azteca (Wichita) who finished second place in the state last year. SKC beat them 2-0 behind two goals from midfielder Dominick Parry. Goalkeeper Steven Tekesky made a slew of great saves in the game and throughout the weekend.
To catch the U13s in action, they'll be playing at the Sporting Club Training Center at Swope Park this Saturday at 1 p.m. against KCFC. The game is free so if you're looking for something to do before the senior team plays, this seems like the perfect option.

U13s take to the FIELD
Dominick Parry dribbles the ball down the field while Absalon Solorio supports himI "capped" FIELD because it wasn't any old field, it was the Seniors team's game field at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Our U13s were the half-time entertainment on August 21st during the Wizards vs Revs match (Sorry for the delayed post). The boys played each other in an 8min exhibition match. Although the 8mins seemed liked 30 seconds to the boys, they all came off the field with huge smiles and a good sweat. The boys seemed over joyed to have this opportunity and we of course were happy to show them off. This is one good team!
Our U15/14s were also in action that weekend against FC Porto of KS. We won the match 7-1 and was a good way to start the season. The U15/14s have about half the players playing HS ball and the other half playing with the Juniors in the Heartland League. In the Spring we will play MRL.
Both the U13s and U15/14s will be in action this Labor Day weekend playing in the Midwest Classic Tournament. All games will be played at the Overland Park soccer Complex and schedules can be found here for both teams.
